“Defining bold strategic vision — and building the high-performance, technology-enabled organizations, cultures, and leaders required to make it real. Her operating philosophy runs on three rails: data and analytics as the foundation of every decision; AI and technology as the accelerants of clinical and operational scale; and sustained profitability as the only proof of strategy done right.”

Healthcare Leadership

Angela L. Perri grew up in Clarksburg, West Virginia — a close-knit working community where neighbors looked after one another and family was everything. A proud graduate of Washington Irving High School, Class of 1987, she was shaped from an early age by the kind of communal care and accountability that big systems rarely teach: the belief that every person, especially every elder, deserves to be seen, known, and genuinely looked after. That foundation — what she calls #grandmacenteredcare — remains the lens through which she leads.

Today, Angela is a transformational healthcare executive with more than 25 years of enterprise leadership across Medicare, Medicaid, managed behavioral health, and commercial markets. She is known for one thing above all others: defining a bold strategic vision — and then building the high-performance organizations, cultures, and leaders required to make it real.

As President of Medicare Products at UPMC Health Plan, she holds strategic and financial accountability for the region’s largest Medicare Advantage plan — UPMC for Life — encompassing HMO, PPO, and Special Needs Plans with approximately 228,000 members and a ~$4 billion P&L. Under her leadership, UPMC for Life reversed a negative P&L trajectory to positive operating income in year one (and currently) with sustained 6% year-over-year growth through July 2026. The plan earned four consecutive J.D. Power awards for Medicare Advantage member satisfaction and was recognized by U.S. News & World Report multiple years for a service approach that redefined the standard for how Medicare Advantage plans genuinely care for their members.

Angela conceived the strategic vision for HealthPlaNET — UPMC’s proprietary clinical software platform — and managed the cross-organizational team that delivered enterprise deployment. She co-led the creation of portfolio and project management structural execution with IT partners, drove the digital development and deployment of key clinical assets, and launched the RxWell behavioral health app and telehealth mobilization during COVID-19.

A committed innovator and technology architect, Angela has spent her career building organizations where data and AI don’t sit on the sidelines — they drive the strategy. Across enterprise transformations at Optum/United Health Group, Centene Corporation, and Amerigroup, she has consistently applied rigorous data analytics and clinical intelligence to unlock sustained P&L growth and scalable profitability across 40+ states.

Angela serves as Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Health and Katz School of Business, and is completing her Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership (expected 2027). She holds triple Six Sigma Black Belt certifications — DMAIC, DMADV, and Lean — from the Juran Institute.
